With fitness and activity trackers for people being all the rage, this new product proposal by Squeaker makes sense. They are proposing an activity tracker dog collar, Buddy. Buddy will feature GPS tracking (to always know where your dog is) , LED light up technology (to keep your pooch safe and visible at night) and an activity tracker (to make sure that Fido gets his exercise). Currently the company is still in their KickStarter phase and are looking for pledges. For more details on their KickStarter proposal and the function of this next level smart collar, visit their page.

If a smart collar is not your thing I would still recommend checking out some of Squeaker’s other products. They specialize in LED leads, harnesses and collars to keep your pets safe and visible at night.

Here is a list of 10 questions overheard by a veterinarian’s assistant, as written on BarkPost. It’s worth the read to have a laugh and brighten your morning!

We’ve all had our moments; our best friend sitting attentively at our side while eat our meal. Our dogs are part of our family, they’re just like us. Surely they’d enjoy a little treat from your plate, right?

As much as your dog would love their own seat at the table and join you to lick their plate (and yours) clean, it’s important to remember that their digestive systems are different than ours and they can’t eat all the same foods. Here’s a quick go to chart to help you in those moments of weakness (borrowed from the HellaWella)

Buying the correct collar for your dog can be a very confusing process. There are several types available such as flat collars, Martingales and a variety of harnesses, to name a few. Also, if you have a puppy, it is imperative that you check the collar every week to ensure it does not become too tight – puppies grow quickly!

It helps to have some good advice prior to your shopping trip. We would like to share this article by the BCSPCA as it is a great resource for others when purchasing a suitable collar for their loved one. We do not recommend purchasing a choke, prong or shock collar for your pet. These types of collars are hazardous to your pet, as the article explains.

This news story came to us today via Facebook. We wanted to share this as we are truly saddened by the events that took place in this attack and heartbroken for the victims involved. Please help if you can and be safe out there fellow dog lovers!

Today, the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Park Board announced that it will expand the off-leash dog area in our neighborhood!

The summer months can be brutal to your dog. Dogs are much more susceptible to heatstroke than humans and rely on panting, a method of breathing out excess heat, to cool down their bodies. Some breeds are much more susceptible to the heat than others. Dogs with pushed-in faces, such as Bulldogs, Pugs and Boxers have smaller airways and therefore have less of an ability to blow out hot air.

We are pleased to provide the Green Pet Shop Cooling Pads to help your pooch stay cool this summer!

Our guests are taken for frequent walks throughout the day, and nothing beats lying on a Green Pet Shop Cooling Pad to cool off afterwards! Solo is a huge fan of these pads, as demonstrated in our featured photo.

These pads have some amazing benefits! They cool and soothe, help prevent over heating and dehydration, they last for years, recharge automatically, are weight activated, contain no water or electricity, no refrigeration and best of all they are non-toxic and safe for people’s pets and the planet!

I am always ready for a good laugh, and I believe that laughter should be shared. So, fellow dog lovers, check out this link, share it with others and brighten your day! Happy Friday to you all…

I have seen people leave their dogs in the car during a heatwave all too often in the city. Why is it people forget that it only takes minutes for a dog to dangerously overheat? During extreme heatwaves, I choose to walk my dog during the coolest parts of the day, and keep him hydrated as much as possible.

I found the following article on the BCSPCA website. It is very informative and full of great tips to keep your dog safe during the summer. If you have any tips or additional advice, please share them on our blog for others to follow.

Help me in spreading the message to keep our loved ones safe!
